At our concert in St Mary's Church, Frensham, on June 22nd we were able to remember and to pay tribute to our dear departed friend, long-time Choir member, and generous benefactor Josephine Baker (Jo Reader - see also feature in concert programme). The flowers in the Church and later on Jo's grave were from the gardens of her erstwhile colleagues in the Alto section. The main work in the concert, 'Five Nocturnes' by Owain Park, was made possible by a legacy from Jo to the Waverley Singers, alongside her many other bequests to different causes relating to music, nature, and the connection between the two: the theme of our concert.
